Case Studies

The QINIQ network will bring affordable Broadband Internet access to people throughout Nunavut. Residential and corporate users will have access to rich on-line content, electronic commerce, video conferencing, voice-over-IP technologies and many other services that were previously inaccessible. We expect the social and economic benefits of this to be significant, and have devoted an entire section of this website to showcase the ways in which the people of Nunavut put these technologies to work.

If you are a QINIQ subscriber and have been impacted by its services, we invite you to submit your story to us for posting on this web site. By prominently featuring the social and economic benefits of the QINIQ network, we hope to inspire other people around Nunavut to take advantage of everything QINIQ has to offer. We can think of no better way to do this than to directly showcase how people are putting this network to work for them, at home and in the workplace.

We also hope to convey the importance of Broadband connectivity in remote and rural communities and demonstrate how high speed access can really affect the lives of people in these environments. We believe that the QINIQ network is a model for other small communities across Canada and remote and rural areas throughout the world. Help us demonstrate this by sharing your stories with us. Please contact us if you have a story to submit.

Inuit Health Survey The Inuit Health Survey traveled through three Inuit jurisdictions in 2008: the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the NWT, Nunavut and Nunatsiavut! It is the largest and most comprehensive survey done on the health of Inuit in Canada to date. The purpose of the survey is to gain a better understanding of the health status of Inuit, which will help to plan future health delivery and promotion. Communities were visited by the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Amundsen, a floating laboratory. As they traveled through communities in the Canadian Arctic, the Land Teams will stay in touch with each other and the ship crew through the use of QINIQ wireless broadband services. To find out more you can visit their blog at www.inuithealthsurvey.ca.
